The Rise in Popularity of Internet Telephony 

Internet telephony is becoming increasingly popular among business customers, successfully replacing traditional landline telephony. In today’s world, mobility in business communication is essential. Each of us has a mobile phone, and even several of them. So, is landline telephony becoming obsolete? Definitely not. 

According to a report on the state of the telecommunications market in Poland prepared by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), for 93 percent of companies, the landline phone remains the primary form of business contact. 

Why do companies still choose to use landline services? The reason is simple: according to the report, a landline phone number is a marker of professionalism. Having a landline number builds trust and credibility among customers who are convinced that the company has a physical office and is not just a “virtual” company. 

Internet telephony fully replaces landline telephony in a company, offering many more possibilities and benefits, while allowing for significant savings on both phone calls and added services, as well as infrastructure. Importantly, switching operators is free; the company retains its existing numbers or gets new ones and can continue to use the existing infrastructure and telecommunications equipment. 

As a result, for several years, we have been observing a rapid increase in the number of internet telephony (VoIP) subscribers, referred to as the modern landline phone. 

According to data from the report on the state of the telecommunications market in Poland in 2015, among operators providing IP telephony services via other operators’ networks, over 27% of customers used the services of EasyCall.
